The honest questions, answered.
Real answers to the questions everyone asks. If we missed yours, email us at support@chalais.app.
What does a read actually contain?
A 5-part read on your property: structural survey, nearby comps, scope economics ($X cost → $Y resale value across cosmetic refresh / light remodel / minor / major / new build), buyer persona, stress tests (what happens if comps drop 10%, costs run 20% over, market sits 180 days), and counterpoints (where could this go wrong).
About what you'd get from a $5,000 firm consultation — in about 3 minutes, not 3 weeks. Free runs the structural survey + scope rec; Plus and up unlock all sections.
How accurate is the read?
We pull real comps, real $/sqft for the local market, real recent renovation outcomes. The numbers are grounded — we cite addresses, sale prices, and transformations for everything in the comps section.
That said, the read is a strategic frame, not a permitted construction estimate. Final cost depends on your contractor, your finishes, your permitting jurisdiction. Treat it as the brief you'd hand an architect, not the blueprint they'd build from.
What's the difference between the scope levels (cosmetic refresh / light remodel / minor structural / major addition / new build)?
They escalate in cost, scope, and value-unlock. A cosmetic refresh is paint + fixtures (~$15-30K). A light remodel is new exterior materials + finishes (~$80-180K). Minor structural opens walls (~$200-400K). Major structural moves rooms or adds (~$400-900K). New build is starting over.
Each read recommends one based on the property's bones, comps in the local market, and where the value math actually closes. You can also ask for renders at any other scope.
Can I refund?
Yes. 30-day “don't love it” guarantee on every paid plan — cancel inside 30 days for any reason and we refund every cent. No questions, no clawback. Keep your reads, keep your renders, keep your project files.
Email support@chalais.app with the email you signed up under and we'll process it the same day.
What happens if I cancel?
Your subscription stops at the end of the current billing cycle (or immediately, your choice). Past that, we keep your reads and renders forever — they don't disappear. You just go back to free-tier limits (1 read + 1 render / month, watermarked).
Re-subscribe anytime; everything is right where you left it.
Do you train AI on my photos or report data?
No. Your photos and report data are not used to train any model — ours or anyone else's. Photos are stored in our private bucket, signed-URL gated, and only fed into the per-render pipeline you initiate.
Renders you choose to publish to your public profileare obviously visible to others — that's the point. Everything else stays yours.
What's the watermark on free renders?
A small “chalais” mark in the bottom-right corner — designed to credit, not humiliate. Free renders are still full-resolution and shareable; we just want a tiny credit when you post them.
Plus removes it on every render — past and future.
Can I use Chalais for client work?
Yes. Pro adds branded share pages (your logo, your color), a public render gallery on your handle, and refinements from your render credits — built for realtors, architects, and flippers presenting concepts to clients.
Agency-scale teams running 30+ properties a month should look at Studio: 75 reads + 750 renders/mo at the best per-read economics we offer (~$4/read at full usage).
My read failed / a render didn't come through.
Failed reads + renders never count against your monthly quota — only successes do. If something hung or errored, just try again.
If it keeps failing, email support@chalais.app with the property URL and we'll dig in (we keep the full pipeline trace).
How do I get in touch?
Real humans, usually within a few hours during business hours (Pacific time). Faster if you include the property URL or render link.
